WATER
The Parsons Water Department provides potable water to approximately 4,700 customers within the service area. The average annual production of the Water Treatment Plant is 1.5 million gallons per day (MGD) or approximately 550 million gallons per year. The majority of the plant has the capacity to treat 4.5 MGD.

The City has two water sources, Lake Parsons (with a capacity of 3.27 billion gallons) and the Neosho River. Water is released from Lake Parsons into Labette Creek where it runs to the Parsons Water Treatment Plant. The Lake can provide approximately 3.3 MGD to the plant. The City also has water rights on the Neosho River that can provide another 2.0 MGD in raw water supply.

The current Parsons Water Treatment Plant went on line in November of 2001 and a change was made to the plant to create the current configuration of upflow clarifers with microfiltration. The plant uses activated carbon for taste and odor control and fluoridation has been added for dental health.

WASTE WATER
The City ofParsons has recently completed the construction of a 2.5 million gallon per day waste water treatment plant.  This state of the art plant uses an activated sludge process and is designed to be expanded to meet the needs of Parsons for many years to come.

Disinfection is accomplished by ultra-violet light. The plant has an odor control system to make it more environmentally friendly.

ELECTRIC
Evergy is the largest electric utility in the state. They offer competitive regional electric rates that are below the national average. Kansas has the tenth lowest average cost of living in the United States. Evergy has the capacity to produce nearly 7,100 megawatts of electric energy. Their diverse fuel mix helps to protect customers from spikes in individual energy markets.

Headquartered in Topeka, Kansas, Evergy employs about 2,000 people and serves more than 640,000 customers in much of east and east-central Kansas. Our energy centers in eight Kansas cities generate nearly 6,000 megawatts of electricity, and we operate and coordinate about 35,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines. As the largest electric energy provider in Kansas, Evergy's mission is to provide safe, reliable, high quality electric service at reasonable cost to all customers.

It is also important to Evergy to give something back to the people we serve. Through the Evergy Green Team, the Evergy Foundation and Evergy Community Partners, we help preserve the state's environment, support non-profit agencies and encourage volunteerism among our employees and retirees.
